Impact Hub Phnom Penh (IHPP) has partnered with Toyota (Cambodia) Co. Ltd, to launch Cambodia’s first entrepreneurship program focusing on transport and road safety. If you are a young Cambodian Innovator who loves problem-solving and creating solutions, this is for you!
The entrepreneurship programme aims to tackle the issue of road safety, envision the future of transports, smart cities and the future environment of Cambodia. IHPP also hopes to raise awareness about the untapped sectors of Cambodia and inspire youths to take up leadership positions in these fields.
According to the director of Cambodia’s Institute for Road Safety, in 2016 traffic accidents were the leading cause of deaths in Cambodia. This entrepreneurship programme will give applicants the opportunity to pioneer innovative solutions to Cambodia’s transport needs, and help create a more sustainable development of Cambodia’s cities and transport.
Olivia Hough, Managing Director of IHPP explained the support that Impact Hub will provide.
“The Toyota Impact Challenge’s goal is to help young innovators through the most difficult part of developing a venture – the first few steps and access to funding. We will support entrepreneurs to create an impact-driven product and a business plan that can realistically grow, attract investment, and most importantly, create a positive impact.”
This extensive programme will equip and provide participants with the necessary entrepreneur skills to turn an idea into something they can call their own, and will be done in four phases:
Phase 1: Applicants will visit universities around Phnom Penh to raise awareness on entrepreneurship and encourage youths to positively influence sectors that are infrequently touched in Cambodia.
Phase 2: 10 teams will be selected to go through a two-day intensive boot camp where they will have to brainstorm and eventually finalise an idea to pitch in July.
Phase 3: The three shortlisted teams will then go through an incubation programme for three months at IHPP, where they will receive tailored mentoring, masterclasses, a co-working space at IHPP, and full access to Impact Hub’s extensive local and international network.
Phase 4: At the end of the incubation period, the top three teams will pitch their ideas and stand a chance to win USD$10,000 to fund their ventures.
The official launch of the event will take place at Impact Hub, Phnom Penh, on 7 April, from 10am to 12pm. Applications will open on the day of the event, so see you there!
