A GREEN DEMO DAY: YOUR YOUTH ECO LABS TEAMS AND WINNERS

After a 3-month intensive innovation program, Solar Micro Grid were recently chosen as winners of the winners of Youth Eco Labs 2018 at the final pitching session at Impact Hub Phnom Penh, with Smart Bins coming in second. Both team’s impressive business ideas were rewarded with the opportunity to be guests on the U.S. Embassy’s Facebook Live “Let’s Chat” programme, and an eco-friendly gift basket.

All seven teams presented their solutions to tackle Cambodia’s pressing environmental challenges, and won praise and useful feedback for their ideas from the judges.

Each team had just five minutes to demonstrate their business ideas in front of the judging panel of Sreyneang Krech, Co-founder of Eco-Life Cambodia; Rithy Thul, Co-founder of SmallWorld Ventures; and Ali Al-Nasani, Country Director of Heinrich Böll Stiftung.

Here is a rundown of the seven teams, who are all determined to make Cambodia a greener place through their business ideas:

2. Cambo Bio Green

3. Petals

4. Khm-Bambo

Aims to reduce plastic consumption by offering an alternative with a small one-off fee that creates personalised and durable plastic cups for use at events.

5. Smart Bin

6. Solar Micro Grid

7. Sonya Cafe Team

Congratulations to the winning teams, and well done to all the participants who have put in impressive work and effort thus far! We hope that all the efforts and ideas for safeguarding Cambodia’s environment and green spaces continue, develop and grow.
