This summer my girlfriend and I are flying to Phnom Penh for a three week trip through Cambodia. We are currently hesitating to add Laos to our vacation and would love to have your advice.
On the one hand we want to see as much as possible, but on the other hand we want a relaxed trip without a lot of rushing from one place to the other. We want to see some culture, especially the old Buddhist temples, but with a good mix of natural beauty. We think we have a good general idea of the highlights in both countries, but we don’t know what to do in between those locations.
We start our trip in Phnom Penh and after a few days in the city we want to travel north to Siem Reap. Is there a specific route between the two cities you would recommend? After visiting the temples of Angkor we are thinking of flying from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang and see some sights in Laos. Do you think this is doable, or would it be better to stay in Cambodia and take a slow trip back south to Phnom Penh? If so; which spots do you recommend?
Thanks in advance!
