Inquiry Submission By Andrew C

I’ve never been in Cambodia, but I’ve heard that transport can be unreliable, so I was wondering if it’s better to buy in advance or on the fly. Can you advise?

I’m going to Koh Rong Samloem in late January. I get into Sihanoukville at 11:30 am on Sunday on a Cambodia Angkor Air flight from Siem Reap.

I understand it’s only 12km from the airport into the city, but it can take an hour. There are boats at 2pm and 3pm.

Should I book the boat in advance, or buy it on the fly because I can’t predict if my flight will be late or how long it will take to get into the city?

Similarly, when I’m returning to Phnom Penh from Koh Rong Samloem, there are boats departing in the morning at 7, 830, 9 and 10.

I figured I’m better off taking a van to Phnom Penh because the flights are so scarce. Vans depart regularly until 9:30 or so.

Should I book the van in advance or wait until I’m there because I don’t know how long the boat will take?
