April 2019 is the year for us, our family holiday (for a very special birthday) to IndoChina.

The plan is to split the holiday between Cambodia and Thailand.

We (2 adults & a 14 year old) are flying from London Heathrow to Siem Reap at the beginning of April, planning to stay 5 nights. Hotel is yet to be booked.

Then we are thinking of taking an internal flight (yet to be booked) to Chiang Mai for 6 nights. Hotel is yet to be booked.

Then we will do an internal flight to Krabi for 4 nights on 14th April. Hotel (Dusit Thani) has been booked so this part of the journey cannot be changed.

Appreciate the weather is going to be extremely hot in April, hence reducing the number of days in Siem Reap down to 5 and doing the extra days in Chiang Mai. Angker Wat is a must, we are really looking forward to this.

Also, happy to reduce Siem Reap to 4 and add to Chiang Mai if that seems more sensible.

So to summarise, this is the plan:

Siem Reap 5 nights

Chiang Mai 6 nights

Krabi 4 nights

Wish we had added a few more days to the trip leading into Easter must too late now.

As it’s our first time, we want to make sure we hit the hot spots yet not go over the top that we are totally drained out at the end of it all (hence the beach resort at the end. Can’t wait Krabi!).

No tours or drivers have been booked yet.

Any hints/tips of places to see/visit would be appreciated. Hotel options would also help. Comfort is of importance and so we are aiming towards 4/5* resorts if possible. This way, if it does get overly hot then we can opt to stay in the hotel and enjoy the facilities instead.

What area would you suggest we stay in in Chiang Mai. Somewhere not to noisy at night but also close to amenities. We are a relatively young family.

Looking forward to your replies.
