On the first day on my recent holiday to Siem Reap in Cambodia I saw the worst treatment of animals I have ever seen.
On a main road travelling to our first temple on The Grand Tour our Tuk Tuk was passed by 2 vehicles that were carrying cages of dogs – the vehicles had cooking pots attached at the back.
I understand that different countries eat different types of meat but it was the way in which these animals were being transported – they had been forced into small cages 4 or 5 dogs deep with their bodies squashed on top of each other with no room to move travelling in 35+ degrees heat – it was truly a living hell on earth for these animals.
As I said I understand different countries eat different types of meat but the absolute inhumane way these dogs were being transported in their final hours is a lasting image that I will always have of Cambodia.
