My husband and I, along with our 3-year-old daughter, are spending a week in Siem Reap around the Christmas holidays. The week is book-ended by a short visit to Bangkok.

We are reasonably fit and adventurous and would like to do a mix of bicycling (with a child’s seat, of course) and hiring tuk tuks. Please let me know what you think of the following itinerary.

Thu 12/27

8 pm Fly out of Bangkok

9 pm Arrive in SR

Fri 12/28

Rent bikes in SR

7:30 am-lunch Ta Prohm, Thommanon, Preah Khan

pm Ta Som, East Mebon

Sat 12/29

Hire a guide and tuk tuk driver

5:30 am-lunch Angkor Wat, Phnom Bakheng, South Gate

pm Bayon

Sun 12/30

Rent bikes

6-8 am Sunrise at Srah Srang, Banteay Kdei

Apopo (hero rat tour, 45 min.)

11 am-12 pm Spa

Lunch, back to hotel

2-6 pm Countryside cooking class

Mon 12/31 NYE

Hire taxi driver

pm Banteay Srey Butterfly Centre, Banteay Srey

Dinner

8-9:30 pm Cocktail class at Asana

Hang out til midnight. Suggestions for low-key restaurant where children are welcome?

6 am-lunch Sunrise at Pre Rup, Baphuon, Royal Terraces, Preah Palilay

Back to hotel, pool time

7 pm Sombai tasting in SR, then dinner

Check out, leave bags

See temples we may have missed

Pick up bags at hotel

5 pm Sunset at Angkor Wat on the way to airport?

9:45 pm Flight to Bangkok

10:50 pm Arrive in Bangkok, check in
