Just a warning to fellow travellers checking in at Siem Reap airport.. I was flying from Siem Reap to Saigon HCM with Vietnam Airlines as a single traveller. I joined the Vietnam Airlines checkin queue showing my flight number/time, there was not a very long queue at all but a member or airline/airport staff kept insisting I go to another VA check in desk – thinking they were trying to save me a few minutes queuing time I obliged even though it wasn?t the designated counter for my flight. At check in I had one suitcase to check into hold. PLEASE CHECK you receive baggage tag stickers either stuck to boarding pass or passport – I didn?t and hadn?t noticed at the time- until I arrived at Saigon and my suitcase was nowhere to be seen. The case was well labelled, a bright colour and TSA lock so suspect foul play rather than a passenger taking the wrong case from the carousel… Suitcases do go astray but the lack of tags definitely suspicious. Going three weeks for rest of trip without your belongings is not ideal – it?s still not turned up it?s a month since I got back and Vietnam airlines have had to be pestered to confirming loss of luggage. Please also note their standard policy for baggage delay (not loss) is $30USD compensation. I am insured but…
