My soon to be husband and I will be heading to Cambodia for three glorious weeks of a honeymoon in November and our first stop is Phnom Penh. We arrive the afternoon of 11/8 and currently planning on staying 4 nights and heading to Siem Reap on 11/12. I discovered that the Water Festival is happening during this time and we are interested in checking out some of the festivities. Questions I have are:
1. Is it worth staying 1 night longer in order to be in PP for the final day of the festival? After SR we’re headed south to Kampot/Koh Rong S and have alotted quite a lot of time for down there so can probably give up a day down there to stay in PP if its worth it.
2. What neighborhood would you recommend during this time? Its our honeymoon so definitely still want some quiet/romance (and I’m an extremely light sleeper) but we’re also very much city-folk and love easily being able to walk to bars/restaurants/local markets. I keep seeing high recommendations for Sisowath Quay but concerned about high traffic/noise. BKK area seems like something we’d be interested in as well.
3. Favorite hotels for honeymooners in those neighborhoods? Ideally would like to keep cost to under $100USD/night, have a pool & at least breakfast on site for loungey mornings. So far I am drawn to Pavilion & White Mansion but unsure if those neighborhoods will give us what we’re looking for. The Sun & Moon roof top pool seems super fun as well.
Appreciate your help!!
