We will be spending two weeks in SE Asia this February, flying in and out of Bangkok. The Angkor Wat area is our major goal and we will spend several days in Siem Reap. Since Bangkok is both inevitable and interesting in itself, we will tour around there for a few days also. This leaves perhaps four or five days for another destination in the area that would “link” fairly seamlessly with the other two. Some candidates are Phnom Penh, Chiang Mai and Luang Prabang.

Our interests run more to cultural/historical sites and nature than, for example, a purely beach type area.

We would like to get advice on which of the additional area would be most interesting from those experienced in the area. Would certainly consider any alternative suggestions as well.
